I have to admit it…I’m kinda crushing on Kristen Wiig right now. What IS it about smart brunettes? Total yum. 🙂
And no…it’s not because I saw Ghostbusters and loved it…I have no intentions of going to the movie (the trailer told me all I needed to know), but seeing her in said trailer…oofa.
And yah, to some degree I’m pissing on the new Ghostbusters movie. NOT for the female cast, but for the direction that Feig chose to take it in and the Live-action-Scooby-Doo-level special effects within. :/ SAD looking movie…and yet another fucking remake which disavows the existence of the original.
Y’know how they should’ve done it? Movie starts off at Egon Spengler’s gravesite with the three remaining Ghostbusters, and Kristen with them. She’s there as either someone’s squeeze or daughter, depending on the age difference; whichever way would cause less ripples. Myself, I have no problems with age differences, but that’s me. Egon has passed and the other Ghostbusters are trying to move on…the government is getting really hard assed about pressuring them to close and the stress is starting to show. They return to the firehouse, where more unfair and impossible-to-impose regulations are slammed on them…they decide they’ve had enough…the Ghostbusters are finished.
Kristen doesn’t accept that and puts together an underground type movement to keep busting; she hires the other three women in the current cast as she goes.
For the “What a TWIST!” moment, the main villain turns out to be the head of the government campaign against the ‘Busters…the main spectral baddie has promised him immortality/infinite power for his help…wrap it all up with both sets of ‘Busters in a slam-bang clash to the finish with the ghosts and their human avatar.
No nut-shots to Stay-Puft required. :/
From what I’ve heard from online reviews, this movie is sexist in it’s OWN right, as an anti-male project with all the men in the movie being morons, capped off by a castrating of the manifestation of the logo come to life; kinda…well…OW. :/ ‘Course I’ll never know if this is true myself as I’m not giving Hollywood money they can use to create other shitty remakes when they should be creating NEW projects…Hollywood is living in the past, I guess.
Yah, a depressing time at the movies for me…I just found out that in the new Star Trek movie, they’re continuing the fad started in Star Trek 3 and completely destroying the Enterprise. Jesus. Always breaks my heart when the ship falls to lazy writing. 🙁
Domino for today. 🙂
