All posts for the day August 16th, 2016

I’m home.ย  And happy to BE home.ย  Lord, what travels…I forgot how much I hate air pockets and my stomach dropping when my flight hits one…lol. Nothing serious…just the feeling of sinking stomach; I’m sure you’ve all been there. ๐Ÿ˜›

I haven’t edited anything but 5 sample pics from the con…I’ll inter space thoseย  out while I blab, and over the next week or so, I’ll run things down for you all on the experience.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

This was an…odd…con. Probably my favorite, but an odd one. The reason being, they went in a different direction this year…no “Guests Of Honor”. Guests of Honor, models, traditionally, would get booth space and be accessible from said booth…it was a win for fans, but a bit of a loss for producers who wanted to work with them as they were stuck at booths all con. I always understood, tho…this is as much a FAN event as an industry one. Not this time, however…the fans definitely took a hit this con.

Sure…models like drop-dead GORGEOUS Chrissy Marie (above) were available for chatting up and whatnot…but staple models? Christina Carter, for example, was everywhere, but Jewell Marceau? I didn’t see hide nor hair of her until the closing ceremonies, and I don’t think I’m alone in that. It was thought that she was working sun up until sun down. :/ In my mind, this has always been an event for fans AND industry and things took a definite back-turn this con. One VERY passionate fan I was hanging with was pretty po’ed about it, really…and as a “fan producer” myself, I agree. Yes, the models all need to work…but if you ask me, there should be a stipulation in place where they have to be at least SOMEwhat available to fans.ย  Eh, that’s just me, tho.

The “Guest Of Honor” system was replaced by an “Awards” ceremony. Normally, I’m on board for this…but it felt so…stuffy…to me. Like only the “bigs of the bigs” need apply, and no, don’t anyone DARE tell me I apply.ย  I have a LOT of seasoning to go through before I become a Lew Reubens, Ken Marcus, or Jim Weathers. :/ This is all a different blog about Sunday night…but for me? This “awards” thing blew chunks; couldn’t even stay to see if my faves (few and far between as I knew almost no one nominated) won. :/

I don’t know why, but the con floor even felt a bit more sparse than usual…even the guy who sells great ball gags wasn’t even there. The funny part was they had more space available since it wasn’t being taken up by Guests Of Honor (after this, referred to as “GOH’s”). Eh, I’m a picky sot and I don’t really NEED all that much…I have inexpensive “jute” rope to use if I so desire, a good source for my usual clothesline, all the ball gags I really need…what I needed was some GOH videos, and those weren’t there…

Ah, well. At least Candle hung out at the Toreva booth (as a salesperson, I believe), so I was able to chat her up whenever I wanted. ๐Ÿ˜›

I suppose I sound like I hated the con and that’s far from the truth. This was a HOT con for me, possibly my fave of all the ones I’ve been to. I feel I did some of the best work I’ve done in some time and I’m damn proud OF it.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ย  The gals I worked with were truly top-shelf and amazing all…it was a BLAST! It just would have been better with GOH’s and a different end party; I really missed Reverend B. Dangerous‘ show at the end. Nobody can endure firecrackers down his pants, glass being eaten, and cinder blocks chained to moobs (“man boobs”…lol) like he can. And yes, all that happens…Google his name and watch a YouTube video or two…*if you dare!* ๐Ÿ˜›
