So, here was my “something I learned today” from FetCon (definition provided by Wikipedia):
Tiramisu (from Italian, spelled tiramisù [tiramiˈsu], meaning “pick me up”, “cheer me up”, “wake me up” or “lift me up”) is a popular coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. It is made of lady’s fingers (Italian: Savoiardi, [savoˈjardi]) dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa. The recipe has been adapted into many varieties of cakes and other desserts. Its origins are often disputed among Italian regions such as Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, and others.
Here’s the sick part of it…I’m Sicilian and I never knew this. 😛
When I started my shoot with Terra Mizu, I asked her the significance behind the modelling name she chose, and she quickly responded that it was a dessert. Well, fuck me runnin’, I never knew that! I’ll have to hit an Italian restaurant soon just to try it…sounds yummy!
Anyway, the shoot with Terra was complete fun! The set-up was that Terra was headed out all dolled up and calling her significant other to make the arrangements, when a nasty type person (me, I suppose…lol) sets upon her and ties her up, later removing her clothing for better pervy viewing of the lovely lass. NICE stuff…what a fun time!
The shoot went smooth as butter. 🙂 That’s the best part about hiring a professional…they know their angles and how to present themselves to get you the best material possible…Terra is no exception to this rule; she did OUTSTANDING! You get to a point where you want to change the angle…and just when you’re gonna ask her to move a certain way, she just does it herself…gotta LOVE that synergy!
Well, after the shoot was finished, we were done shooting for the day (THE DAY…I still have three more shoots to tell you all about!), and my custom guy and I floated down to convention floor for the first time. I think…THINK…it was here that I caught up to comic book artist extraordinaire George Perez and got him to sigh a couple of things for me…a Vampirella trading card (drawn from an Ashley Renee pose, he informed me) and my copy of Astonishing Tales #25 featuring character Deathlok…and George’s very first published comic book artwork! 🙂 A two-page back-up feature, but still great stuff!
We floated around the tables for a bit and nothing really exciting happened…wish I could say I talked with models and set up shoots, but nope…just floated around tables and looked at stuff I either didn’t need or want. :/ Kinda sad, really. If you’re reading this, FetCon staff…bring back the Guests Of Honor! 🙂
That was the first day in a nutshell…tomorrow, I’ll yak about Day 2 and start off with Isobel Wren. Join me then. 🙂
