I feel “old school” today…and there’s a reason why. Let me tell ya about my last night/early morning…
I drug up my actual FIRST-EVER computer to see if it was still kicking. No shit…I got it around ’02 or so from a “$99 Computer” store (and yes, when I bought it, “$99” wound up being $350…lol) and it’s still alive today. All I need for it is a screen…and I saw one yesterday at a pawn store for $20…not sure if I’m gonna get it or not, but it’s a thought.
Aaaaaanyway, it’s Windows 98 (yes, Windows 98!) and has, of all things, a floppy disc drive…not the real “floppy” floppy discs (5 1/4 inches in size and somewhat bendable…IE, “floppy”), but the 3 1/2 inch hard plastic ones. Each one stored a whopping 1.44 Mb on them…lol. The computer’s hard drive can store a whopping 18 Gb of material, sarcasm implied on the “whopping”. 😛 To put it in context to nowadays, my current rig has 76.7 Gb UNUSED storage from a 238 Gb hard drive…my EXTERNAL drives round out to around 1 TB of space. 😛
Now. my first bondage pic collection from before I was a producer from sites I was a member of was on these floppies…so I went about taking those off of them and moving them to my current computer (the entire collection barely put a dent into a memory stick…lol). It was amusing seeing how my bondage taste was then…and I found a Dave Annis pic amongst them; small world, no? 😛
I’m not sure I can use the thing for anything practical…might just get that screen, put some pics on the drive and let the slideshow run through them for room decor…about the only thing I could use it for. :/ I just wonder if I could at least put Vista on it, a bigger hard drive, etc and use it for a back-up or rendering vids…I doubt it, but it’s a thought.
So, anyway…how about some “old school” Tolstoy to go along with the adventure I had last night…Magenta. 🙂
