My new Lenovo computer died…working on resurrecting it. 🙂 Power supply issue…apparently the geniuses at Lenovo thought that 180 watts was good enough for a power supply…cripes. Found a 600 watt unit in town that fit fine…but went to connect it and one of the connectors was 24 pin and the place it’s supposed to go on the motherboard is only 14. This is so much a thing now that both a computer specialty store in town and a local Best Buy both said to hit Amazon, and when I searched it up, it came up easily as a “Lenovo/IBM adapter” for 24 to 14.
Sneaky bastards. The computer specialty store told me Lenovo does this purposely to make you order Lenovo product rather than use market stuff to upgrade your machine…aagh. Now, to those of you screaming at me, “Hey Tony, you told us you bought that machine in Feb…why not use the factory warranty?”, you would be right…for another 180 watt power supply. Warranty was only good for what the factory already had in the machine…any upgrading has to be done by yours truly. $60 for the power supply and another $10 for the adapter…and the wait time for it to show up. 🙁 In the meantime, tho, I do have a back up computer for just such occasions. 🙂
Arielle Lane for today.
